The Crown's computers and charging systems will generate significant heat designed to be expelled from out over the logo on the back of the Crown.
It's normal for the Crown to get warm while charging, but if it's getting too hot and suffering from performance issues, please verify that you're using the charger that came with the Crown. Using a more powerful charger, such as a 100W USB-C charging brick, will cause the Crown to overheat if it's on and charging.
Turning the Crown off while charging will help reduce the overall temperature of the device.
It's also expected that the plug and the front of the crown (where the cord plugs in) will heat up while charging as the power moves through the USB-C.
